We might have been “outsiders” on this tour, but we’d such an awesome time in Australia anyway and we know made a lot of new friends…So have no doubts, we WILL be back, thats a promise! Thanks to all of our old and new fans on this continent and till soon…Cheers!!!
Continuing the trend of performing in new countries, Katatonia will now travel to India for their first gig in the territory on Tuesday and set off for a South American tour in February. See all upcoming tour dates.
There’s been quite a few rumours going on about us touring South America and we’re very happy to announce that those rumours are true! We’re all very excited and can’t wait to get our asses over and enjoy all the good things South America has to offer. Tour dates are as follows and ticket links will be up soon. Check the tour dates area of the website for the most up to date information.
The band is currently on their way to New Zealand where they will begin the No Sleep Til festival tour in Auckland on Friday, followed by a string of dates in Australia. This is Katatonia’s first time in the territories and they offered this update from Hong Kong:
A bit groggy in Hong Kong and half ways onto our destination New Zealand… To journey to the other side of the planet will have taken us 2 nights in the air and a total of 41 hours. Thats the price to pay for cheating nature!
we’re pleased to announce that October Tide will open up the Stockholm show at Göta Källare on Saturday, December 4th. The ties between Katatonia and October Tide are too obvious to even explain, so we leave it as a unique opportunity to catch both bands performing together for one evening.
We’re pleased to announce that the shows in Helsinki, Tampere and Jyväskylä have all sold out in advance. There are still tickets to the show in Seinäjoki available.
We’re off on the road again! Just finished the first gig on this Scandinavian tour — thank you Malmö!
Tonight is Gothenburg at Brewhouse, a town in which we haven’t played a club show in 11 years so we hope to see a lot of old and new faces there. Opening act for the gig will be Gothenburg’s own One Without.
Fact#1 Our last headline show in Stockholm was 5 years ago…
Fact#2 It has been 10 years since we last played a club show in Gothenburg…
Fact#3 We never ever played Linköping nor Malmö…
We know many of our swedish fans have repeatedly been asking why Katatonia rarely/never play on homeground. Well, there might be more than one answer to this, or maybe no real good answer at all? But what matters now is all this is about to change as we’re is just getting ready to tour Sweden as part of our Scandinavian leg of the ‘Night is the new day’ 2010 world tour! So, join us at one of these Swedish dates below and be a part of the change!
We’re very proud to announce that Katatonia will perform at the music portion of the annual cultural festival for students ‘Mood Indigo‘, held for the 39th time in Mumbai, India. This will be our first visit in this country and we’ll be flying into India straight after our Australian run on the travelling ‘No Sleep Till…’ festival and will headline the main stage on tuesday, December 21st where, hopefully, a big portion of the 72.000 students attending will come to check us out. More information on this cool festival can be found here:
Here’s a new interview with Jonas from Metal Injection, where he discusses the song Sold Heart, not being confined to any genres, the reasons for Mattias and Fred leaving the band, Night is the New Day and much more.
