Statement organizer Fusion Fest 2015 – Agency Zdarta P≥yta Music World
We regret to announce that Fusion Fest 2015 with effect from 02.18.2015 is canceled due to reasons beyond the control of the Organiser and Artists, because of unwanted external company work, operating to the detriment of the festival Fusion Fest 2015 Ergo Arena GdaÒsk/Sopot on 03/20/2015. Due to the good name of the participating teams and partners, we were forced to cancel the event. From the top, we would like you assure you that we will enforce their rights through the courts. Thank you to everyone who supported us in recent days. your support was very important for us. †Our common decision will change the name of the event and do the event on a new date, and modify line up. Due to the fact that the Fusion Fest would be badly received, we decided to give this event a new, a fresh tone of the media, so that served the both organizers and musicians, which at the fusion fest would have at this point is not possible. We want to realize this concept with you.
Yours faithfully, Concert Agency Zdarta P≥yta Music World
Sweden’s Katatonia are set to release their new concert film Sanctitude on 30th March UK & RoW / 31st March USA & Canada / 3rd April Germany.
In September 2013 Kscope released Dethroned & Uncrowned, a reworking of the band’s 2012 epic Dead End Kings (originally released on Kscope’s sister label Peaceville). Dethroned & Uncrowned allowed Katatonia the opportunity to explore a more progressive sound, creating new moods and textures while still staying truthful to the core of the original songs.
Katatonia took Dethroned & Uncrowned on the road in Europe for the first time in May 2014 under the moniker ‘Unplugged & Reworked’. They presented an intimate acoustic evening, performing tracks from the album alongside atmospheric classics from their entire career, stripped and reworked. Each venue, on the tour, was carefully chosen for its unique atmosphere. They were joined on guitar & vocals by The Pineapple Thief frontman and songwriter Bruce Soord.
Sanctitude is a concert film filmed and recorded in the stunning candle-lit setting of London’s Union Chapel. The 80 minute set features 17 songs across the albums The Great Cold Distance, Viva Emptiness, Brave Murder Day, Last Fair Deal Gone Down and of course, Dead End Kings / Dethroned & Uncrowned, including fan favourite ‘Teargas’. The show closes with the sublime ‘The One You Are Looking For Is Not Here’ and a special guest appearance by Norwegian vocalist Silje Wergeland of Dutch legends The Gathering.
Katatonia’s Anders Nyström comments on the release “As a band we set out on uncharted waters but while apprehensive about the journey ahead our intentions couldn’t have been more genuine to undertake this beautiful experience. Sailing this project into harbour turned out to be bliss and has ultimately enriched all the members of Katatonia.”
All audio on Sanctitude has been mixed & mastered by Bruce Soord. With artwork once more supplied by long-time visual collaborator Travis Smith.

Since the Close-Up Boat docks in the harbor of Turku on September 19th we decided we’d expand our plans a little and stick around, so we’ll throw a gig at Klubi with support from Barren Earth the same evening. But wait, there’s more… If you call now! YES NOW! You will receive not just one, but TWO gigs! 2-4-1! WOAH! CALL NOW!! (sorry……couldnt help it…. R.I.P Mike Levey). Apparently, there’s no two gigs for one this time, but we are indeed heading to Helsinki to headline the second night of Unioni Festival at The Circus on Sept 20th where you’ll get to see bands such as Solstafir, Swallow The Sun, Barren Earth and yours truly on the same ticket. So until then, kippis!
I’ve been thinking about this for the last couple of months and I’ve come to the sad conclusion that i have to leave the band. It’s got nothing to do with ’difference in views´or any other bullshit. I just cannot combine job, family and commit 100% to Katatonia. Times for musicians are rough and i’ve decided to concentrate on my family and get a normal job that gets the bills payed.
I’ve had some of the best moments in my life the past 14 odd years together with my favorite people in the world. I’ve been all over the planet with this lot…my second family. Thank you! I’m gonna miss playing with you and I’m gonna miss hanging out with you on the road so much. And I’m gonna miss meeting all the great Katatonia fans all over the world. You know who you are. You are truly amazing! I’m not gonna miss all the freaks and idiots we’ve come across during all the years. You probably don’t know who you are. And I will not miss bad catering, shit beer and banana juice…
This is Daniel, rocking the fuck off! Cheers!
We are sad and hollow to see Daniel leave our ranks, but yet his decision has our sincere understanding. Nothing lasts forever and all good things must come to an end sooner or later. Yet it makes it so much more frustrating when it happens for the wrong reasons or before reaching our terminus. Particularly, we can’t pretend the current climate has nothing to do with it, in fact this is undeniably yet another outcome of musicians struggling at the crossroads of today’s “scene/industry”. Tragically, this situation forces a member, brother – and our fans favourite long-time drummer – to resign from a band he sacrificed a decade and a half to build. While encouraging this topic to inevitable debate and re-evaluation, we will always be grateful for the years we shared together and we wish Daniel the best of luck in the future. It goes without saying, we part as band members, but certainly remain as friends.
On a further positive note, this will not affect any of the upcoming tour dates. The ‘Dethroned & Uncrowned – Unplugged & Reworked’ tour next month will proceed accordingly and see JP Asplund taking on percussion duties – he was the one who actually played all original percussion on Dead End Kings/Dethroned & Uncrowned albums. Stand-in drummer Daniel Moilanen (Ex-Engel) will perform on the upcoming summer festivals. Let’s welcome our helping hands, have a goodbye toast for Daniel (note that would be 11 sips for him) and keep our eyes on the horizon: new tours coming up in South America and Australia as well as the long awaited 20th anniversary ‘Last Fair Day Gone Night – Live at Koko’ DVD coming out this fall and much more…
The annual record store day is coming on april 19th, so how do we celebrate this? Katatonia collectors and vinyl lovers will be pleased to know that we’ve compiled some of our most rare and appreciated b-sides on a 12″ vinyl for the first time ever! Printed on matte reversed stock and limited to 2000 copies, ‘Kocytean’ will be available only from independent record stores, so get ready to hunt down your copy next month and enjoy this beautiful vinyl release!

6. The Act Of Darkening
‘Kocytean’ is a wordplay on Cocytus or Kokytos, meaning “the river of wailing” (from the Greek Κωκυτός, “lamentation”) and is a river in the underworld in Greek mythology. Cocytus flows into the river Acheron, across which is the underworld, the mythological abode of the dead.
Anders comments on how the idea came up behind the artwork “I had this scenario playing over and over in my head and together with my graphics shrink Travis Smith decided to convey them down into a series of 4 images where it takes you through struggle, despair, tranquility and hope”.
